Past Soccer Schools
Autumn Half Term Week - 2002
King Edmund School, Yate, Bristol
October 2002
Rain, what rain?
Listening to Sunday's weather forecast you would have expected a wet week! Well, so far we've not got wet at any of our Soccer Schools so why start now. The rain held off until late Tuesday afternoon, when just as we were finishing the 'Specsavers' Champions League and UEFA Cup matches the heavens opened!
Wednesday started off cold and sunny but no rain - On Wednesday's, we hold our 'Goalkeeping Clinic' and this proved to be a very special day for many of our goalkeepers. At the end of day, the 'keepers' are tested to see what they have learnt and are awarded medals for best level achieved. I'm delighted to say that one of our "keepers', Richard, won the top award - Platinum! The first time anyone has achieved this - well done Richard and lookout David Seaman!.
Five boys won gold medals and the rest, silver and bronze. The picture below shows Richard with his Platinum medal and special award.
Thursday, competitions day, still no rain. Friday, we experienced heavy isolated downpours during the final games of the morning. The week finished with a special 'presentation of Awards' held in the main hall.

Best ever Prize Draw at Autumn Soccer School
What a fantastic finish to this year's soccer school programme. At every South Gloucestershire Soccer School we try to raise as much money as we can for a local children's charity through a raffle. Prizes have included Mitre footballs, and free vouchers to next years Soccer Schools and lots of goodies kindly donated by local businesses.
The total amount raised at this Autumns Soccer School held at King Edmunds School, Yate was a bumper £95!
We would like to thank all the participants and parents who purchased raffle tickets throughout the week and a special, big thank you to Exsports of Bristol, who generously donated many of the prizes.
This year we're arranging for all the monies collected to be donated to Frenchay Hospital 'Childrens Ward' in Bristol
